USA Reading Journal

Another side quest that had come from my Read Around the World Challenge and Nomad Book Club is appreciating that more often than not, reading one book per country just isn’t enough.

One place, regardless of size, can hold a multitude of voices, and reading just one story means only seeing one perspective. With everything going on in the world right now, as well as within the United States, never has it been so important to understand someone else’s story.

I know many people already do this challenge of reading a book from every state, and so I created a journal that goes with it, encouraging Americans and non-Americans (myself included) to explore at a deeper level.

Not only does it have a book review page for each of the 50 states, but there are also book review pages for the five U.S. overseas territories, as well as book review pages for native writers.

I hope this inspires and challenges you to discover and read books you never would have found otherwise.

Imagine building a complete literary road trip across America—one book at a time.

Whether you’re a lifelong bookworm or just looking for a fun way to expand your reading list, this reading challenge journal is designed to turn your reading goals into a meaningful, interactive adventure across the United States—and beyond.

With space to reflect on every title you read, plus curated suggestions to guide you when you’re unsure what to pick next, this journal transforms your 50 states reading challenge into something structured, creative, and deeply rewarding.

Each state includes thoughtfully suggested reads to help you discover new authors, genres, and voices you may never have picked up otherwise. You’ll also find special reading lists and review pages highlighting Native American writers.

The journal includes color-in maps so you can visually track your progress as you complete your reading challenge, state by state.

Whether you’re gifting it or using it for your own bookshelf goals, this USA reading challenge journal is the perfect companion for readers ready to explore America through books.

“Helps Me to Discover Books”

I LOVE THIS! I am so excited to use this journal and discover new authors and new genres! My goal is to complete this journal by the end of the year! I love that I can track each state, color it in when I complete it AND it helps me discover books to read for each state.

“Fun Way to Keep Track of Your Reading”

I love this book! As an avid reader who enjoys reading challenges- this is perfect! I love that it has space to doodle and add thoughts and also has suggestions for each state. It is a fun way to keep track of your reading.

“One of the Coolest Reading Journals EVER”

This is hands down probably one of the coolest reading journals EVER! There are so many neat features! I really liked how you can color it. I also loved that not only is there a journal page for each state but there is also a small list of recommended books that take place in each state. The journal pages have a section for quotes and notes. As well as a place to write your own review. I also liked how the U.S. territories and Native American tribes were included.
